Prof. Gabriele Cevenini

Former Head of the Lab

Full Professor in Bioengineering

His scientific activity spans multiple areas, including cardiac and respiratory biomechanics in artificial ventilation, pattern recognition in oncology, digital data and image analysis in dermatology, neural networks in obstetrics, and mathematical and statistical techniques for clinical decision support.

His research has been funded by major projects from the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), the National Research Council (CNR), and the University of Siena. He has authored approximately 230 scientific publications, over half of which appear in internationally recognized journals and books.

Since the 1989/90 academic year, he has been actively engaged in teaching at the University of Siena, covering subjects such as Biomathematics, Biophysics, Medical Informatics, Medical Statistics, Bioengineering, Biomedical Instrumentation, Information Processing Systems, and Healthcare Systems and Processes. His teaching has spanned undergraduate and graduate programs in Biotechnology, Healthcare Professions, Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, and Management Engineering. Additionally, he has supervised numerous thesis projects and served on degree examination committees in the Faculties of Engineering and Medicine.
