The Bioengineering Lab is pleased to share that Dr. Alessio Luschi participated as an invited speaker and panelist at the 2026 China Biomedical Engineering Conference and Medical Innovation Summit (BME2026), held from May 29 to 31, 2026, at the Suzhou Jinji Lake International Convention Centre, Suzhou, China.
The event, organized by the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering (CSBME), gathered over 3,000 participants from across the globe, bringing together scientists, engineers, clinicians, and innovators in the biomedical and healthcare fields.
Dr. Luschi delivered an invited talk titled "Standardizing Software Failure Classification for Evidence-Based SaMD Maintenance," presenting a framework for transitioning toward evidence-based maintenance of Software as a Medical Device (SaMD). The work combines NLP and GenAI techniques with risk-informed design principles to enable structured interpretation of adverse event reports from post-market surveillance systems. The invitation recognized his research contributions in medical AI, evidence-based clinical engineering, and health technology assessment, as well as his active role in IFMBE's international networks.
He also took part in the panel discussion at the dedicated International Forum, co-sponsored by IFMBE, where topics around clinical engineering innovation and international development were addressed.
This participation further strengthens the lab's presence in the global biomedical engineering community and consolidates ongoing collaborations with leading institutions and societies worldwide.
